Almaty’s main City Day events are scheduled for 19 and 20 September, with concerts, a book festival and a multimedia show. The city administration published the programme on 18 September.
Books, music and the city’s history
Kitap Fest on Zhibek Zholy Street will bring together more than 60 publishers and bookshops. Otbasy Fest on Abai Square will feature a crafts area, children’s activities and a zone dedicated to artificial intelligence and robotics.
The Otyrar Sazy orchestra, the Rabat ensemble and other groups are scheduled to perform on Astana Square on 19 September, followed by Almaty Vibes in the evening. Almaty Zhuldyzy will take place there the following day, with Imanbek announced as the headliner.
Architecture as a screen
A 3D projection show is scheduled on Astana Square between 20:00 and 22:00 Almaty time (UTC+5) on 19 and 20 September. Projections onto the Kazakh-British Technical University building will explore the city’s history and possible future. Projection mapping aligns images with a building’s architecture.
