An exhibition about Zhambyl Zhabayev’s life and work was presented at the Kazakhstan Cultural Centre in Beijing. It formed part of an evening marking the 180th anniversary of the Kazakh poet’s birth.
The exhibition brought together books, photographs, works of fine and decorative art, and ethnographic objects. The different exhibits introduced visitors to Zhambyl’s literary legacy and the cultural world around it.
The poet’s granddaughter Saltanat Zhambylova, director of the literary and memorial museum bearing his name, attended the evening. Chinese writer and translator Akbar Majit was also among the guests.
The programme continued with a concert by performers from the Suyunbai Almaty Regional Philharmonic.
