Participants at a meeting of theatre directors in Andijan proposed a shared digital platform for exchanging productions, projects and contacts. The discussion took place during the fourth TURKSOY International Theatre Festival, which continues in Uzbekistan until October 23.
The director of Azerbaijan’s State Pantomime Theatre put forward the digital platform proposal. It is intended to help theatres learn about each other’s work and find partners for joint projects.
A representative from Kazakhstan proposed publishing a theatre journal and almanac under TURKSOY’s auspices. Another suggestion concerned festivals themselves: supplementing performances with training laboratories for young directors and technical staff.
The Kyrgyz delegation presented a proposal for an international summer theatre school. Participants could work in mixed teams to develop joint productions with directors from different countries. Osh was proposed as the host of one of the programme’s initial stages.
These remain proposals, rather than projects already under way. The meeting concluded with a decision to prepare the proposals for further consideration. No dates have been announced for launching the platform or opening the school.
