The Liangzhu Museum in Hangzhou, China, is exploring how jade cong objects and their cultural significance evolved. Jade Cong: A Chronicle brings together 124 objects from 39 museums and cultural institutions in China and abroad.

Cong are recognisable by their shape: a square outer body surrounds a circular hole running through the centre. The exhibition traces their development from the Liangzhu culture through later historical periods.

Highlights include a 49-centimetre-tall cong from the British Museum, a ten-section piece from the Jinsha Site Museum in Chengdu and an object with human and animal motifs from the Fanshan burial site.

The exhibition marks the 90th anniversary of the discovery of the Liangzhu archaeological site. Open since September, it runs until 29 November 2026.
