A joint exhibition titled Headwear in the Turkic World opened in Andijan. It formed part of the fifth gathering of Turkic-world museums, dedicated to traditional clothing and the preservation of cultural heritage.
According to TURKSOY, around 50 museum professionals attended. Participants came from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Gagauzia.
Twenty academic presentations were delivered across five sessions. The discussions covered national costumes, the history of dress and ways to present this heritage in museums. The headwear exhibition complemented the research programme with objects reflecting the region’s diverse traditions.
During the gathering, ten museums from different regions of Uzbekistan received certificates of membership in the TURKSOY Association of Museums.
Andijan is hosting the 2026 Cultural Capital of the Turkic World programme. The museum gathering formed part of its international activities.
